Is your body due an MOT?

What is a sports massage?

Sports massage is a form of soft tissue manipulation designed for individuals involved in regular athletics. However, sports massage is NOT just for the athlete. The body is very much like a functioning machine, and like any machine, it requires regular care and maintenance check-ups to perform to its optimal capacity.

Different forms of sports massage

Maintenance Massage

Regular massage treatment promotes optimal functioning of some of the physiological, psychological and neurological aspects of the body. It can help an individual improve and/or maintain range of movement and muscle flexibility, stimulate circulation, aid relaxation and psychological benefits, relieve tension within the muscle tissue, reduce pain and prevent the manifestation of injury.

Event Massage

Pre-event massage can supplement an athlete’s warm up and help with circulation, decreasing mental and muscle tension prior to competing to ensure both the mind and body are prepared for activity. Post-event massage reduces muscular spasm and metabolic build-up after a lot of exercise to facilitate full recovery of the tissues.

Remedial Massage

Muscle cramps, tears, and aches can occur even when preventative measures are taken. Remedial massage and complementary therapies can decrease muscular discomfort and promote healing of the tissue.
